Background: the launch-season window
The client, a classic-IP mobile game, was entering a new market. Community buzz during launch season is widely treated as a leading signal for organic installs and retention expectations — but official channels only reach existing fans. The incremental voice had to be built where players actually gather: vertical subreddits, Discord servers, Facebook groups, and the comment sections of launch-related YouTube videos.
The hard part: gaming communities punish marketing faster than any other vertical. Before entering, we ran a reputation audit and profiled every board's rules, tone and taboos — then decided what to post, where, and how often.
Method: four channels, weekly cadence
The season ran on a weekly cycle: a posting plan up front (community, post type, daily caps itemized), then a weekly BI reconciliation (posts, engagement, anomaly attribution, screenshot evidence). Every piece was written for its community's own culture — the same selling point becomes a gameplay discussion on Reddit, a topic thread on Discord, and a context-fitting comment on YouTube.
- Reddit — discussion posts and replies in vertical boards, entered only after a rule-by-rule check;
- Discord — topic participation in official and player servers, staggered by day;
- Facebook groups — experience and guide-style content for player groups;
- YouTube — threaded follow-ups in the comments of launch-related videos.
Process metrics and observed results
At peak, 400+ pieces of content and 280K+ impressions observed in a single week across the four channels; 1.5M+ cumulative impressions observed over ten weeks. Impressions are collected per each platform's publicly visible metric; channel breakdown, observation window and de-duplication notes ship with the ledger. Every item enters the ledger with its link, community, publish time and engagement data — the client can spot-check any row. (These are process metrics and observed values based on publicly visible platform data; rankings and conversions are not promised.)
After launch season, the work compounds into community profiles: which boards take which content, which post types earn engagement, where removal risk sits — feeding straight into steady-state operations.
FAQ
- Aren't gaming communities hostile to marketing?
- Yes — which is why we audit reputation first, build a rules profile per board, and customize content to each community. Actions the rules do not allow are not taken; removals and anomalies are attributed weekly and reported honestly.
- How are impression numbers verified?
- Every item keeps its link and screenshot; impressions are collected from publicly visible platform data. The ledger ships with the weekly report and any row can be re-checked.
- What do you guarantee?
- The contract locks the delivery checklist — post/comment counts, communities covered, impressions and interactions — the same guarantee model stated across our site. Rankings and conversions are observed values, never promised.
