Buyer question matrix

The matrix follows a buyer from category discovery to ownership. Each prompt is written as a complete question with practical constraints, so it can be mapped to product facts, source pages and a content owner.

Awareness | Is this category credible?

The buyer is testing category fit, unfamiliar brands and long-term support before naming a model.

  • Is an electric SUV from a Chinese brand a sensible family car in Europe in 2026?
  • I've never heard of this Chinese car brand. Is it reliable?
  • Should I choose a battery EV or a plug-in hybrid if I cannot charge at home?
  • What happens to parts and software support if the manufacturer changes its European plans?
  • Are Chinese EVs safe, and which independent test results should I check?

Comparison | Which evidence separates them?

The shortlist is set, so the buyer compares range, charging, assessment scope and ownership cost.

  • How does the WLTP range compare with what owners get on a cold motorway trip?
  • What is the difference between a Euro NCAP result and EU type approval?
  • Which charging connector does the version sold in my country use, and which public fast-charging networks can it access?
  • How long does it take to charge from 10% to 80%, and how sharply does charging power taper?
  • Which car costs less to own after insurance, depreciation, servicing and home charging?

Decision | Can I buy this exact version?

The buyer needs market-specific warranty, price, test and data-handling facts before ordering.

  • Is the battery warranty transferable to a second owner, and what conditions can void it?
  • How many dealers and service centres does the brand have in my country, and who supplies parts?
  • Does the quoted price include taxes, delivery fees and the driver-assistance package?
  • Has this exact model year been tested by Euro NCAP, or is the score from another version?
  • What driving data leaves the vehicle, where is it stored, and how can I exercise my GDPR rights?

Ownership | What happens after delivery?

The owner asks about software changes, public charging, recurring faults, recalls and support.

  • Why did my real-world range drop after a software update or a spell of cold weather?
  • How can I find compatible fast chargers and see whether recent users reported broken stalls?
  • What does this dashboard warning mean, and is there an open recall for my VIN?
  • Where can I use the driver-assistance system, and when must I take over?
  • What should I document before asking the dealer to inspect repeated charging failures?

Terms and product signals

The English terminology is built around export-market approval, consumer assessment, charging standards, privacy and ownership continuity. WLTP, EPA and CLTC figures identify different procedures and must not be converted through a generic multiplier.

Market access, safety and data

TermRole in an AI answer
Euro NCAPReports a consumer safety assessment, not legal market-entry approval.
EU whole-vehicle type-approval (EU WVTA)Confirms the approval context for placing the relevant vehicle type on the EU market.
UN Regulation No. 155 (UN R155)Defines cybersecurity-management requirements behind the relevant vehicle type approval.

Battery Passport under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542Article 77 applies from 18 February 2027 to EV batteries placed on the EU market or put into service.
Level 2 driver assistanceSeparates supervised assistance from automated driving; the driver must remain fully engaged, continuously monitor the driving environment and remain responsible for the driving task.

Range and charging

TermRole in an AI answer
WLTP rangeIdentifies the European procedure behind a published range figure.
EPA range and MPGeIdentifies the US testing and labelling basis for range and efficiency.
CLTC rangeIdentifies the Chinese procedure when a source specification originated in China.
Test-cycle non-equivalencePrevents WLTP, EPA and CLTC values from being joined by an invented conversion factor.
Combined Charging System Type 2 (CCS2)Explains connector and public-charging compatibility in relevant European markets.
North American Charging System (NACS / SAE J3400)Explains connector and network access in North America without implying global compatibility.
GB/T charging interfaceSeparates the China-market interface from CCS2 and NACS export configurations.
State of Charge (SOC)Defines the battery interval used in every charging-time statement.
10–80% charging time and curveShows both elapsed time and whether power is sustained under stated conditions.

Warranty and ownership continuity

TermRole in an AI answer
Battery-warranty transferabilityClarifies whether coverage follows the vehicle after resale and with what exclusions.
Dealer and service networkSupports claims about maintenance access in a named country or region.
Parts availabilityAddresses repair continuity with local inventory and supply evidence.

AI citation-source map

This map names source families that recur in automotive answers and gives the editorial reason each matters. The starting order is market-specific: test the named Reddit communities before YouTube in North America, local forums and ADAC before general Reddit in Europe, and public Facebook owner groups before the named local forums in Southeast Asia. This is not a citation-share claim; every citation still needs prompt-level capture.

Common pitfalls and fixes

Export-market content fails when a market label, vehicle variant or evidence boundary disappears. Each correction below can be assigned to a content, product, legal or digital owner.

Treating English as a market

Issue: One English page is expected to answer German, British, North American and Southeast Asian questions, despite different rules and sources.

Correction: Build a source map by country and language, then run the same prompt set in each intended market context.

Converting test cycles with a shortcut

Issue: A fixed multiplier is used to turn CLTC into WLTP or EPA, hiding differences in procedures and conditions.

Correction: Keep each official figure under its named procedure and report road tests separately with temperature, route and load.

Calling Euro NCAP an approval

Issue: A consumer assessment score is presented as approval for placing the vehicle on the EU market.

Correction: Publish Euro NCAP assessment and EU WVTA status as separate facts, each tied to the tested or approved variant.

Dropping model year and market variant

Issue: A score, connector, trim feature or warranty from one version is reused for another country or model year.

Correction: Attach market, model year, trim and source date to every mutable fact, then audit distributor and dealer pages.

Optimising keywords before checking citations

Issue: Teams rewrite metadata without recording which pages the AI answer used or which factual conflict shaped it.

Correction: Capture answers and cited URLs first, classify the gap, then edit the official page or relevant external source.

Refreshing timestamps instead of facts

Issue: The modification date changes without a substantive edit, while stale prices, software states or service coverage remain.

Correction: Update dates after a documented factual change; archive expired offers and preserve recall notices with appended progress.

Compliance boundaries

These rules belong in the editorial review sheet before publication. Applicability still depends on the target country, vehicle category, channel and campaign relationship, so market counsel should confirm the final wording.

Rule sourceDo not writeAcceptable wording
Section 5 of the Federal Trade Commission Act; Federal Trade Commission Guides Concerning Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising, 16 CFR Part 255Present paid, gifted or connected advocacy as an independent owner opinion.Disclose material connections clearly and conspicuously, and keep product claims tied to supportable facts.

FAQ

Why does an exporting automaker need a source map for each language?
A prompt in English, German or Thai can retrieve different institutions, forums and owner discussions. A market-level baseline shows which sources are present for that language; an English test cannot stand in for every European or Southeast Asian market.
Is a Euro NCAP result the same as EU type approval?
No. Euro NCAP is a consumer safety assessment, while EU WVTA is the legal approval framework for placing the relevant vehicle type on the EU market. The page should name the exact tested or approved variant for each statement.
Can WLTP, EPA and CLTC range figures be converted?
They should not be converted with a generic multiplier. Keep each published value under its original test procedure, and present road-test observations separately with route, temperature, speed, load and climate-control conditions.
How should community and social comment-section marketing be disclosed?
Follow the law and current platform rules for the target market. Material relationships must be clear, product statements need evidence, and compensated or gifted participation must not be presented as unrelated owner opinion.
What does a repeated AI visibility test prove?
It records what a defined prompt, product setting and date returned, including cited URLs and factual errors. Repeating that method makes changes auditable, but it does not guarantee future citations, ordering or a vehicle recommendation.
