Short answer and disclosure
Short answer
- Most “best GEO agency” lists are written by an agency that ranks itself first and does not say so. This page ranks nobody by opinion: each agency gets one point per publicly checkable criterion (7 total).
- On 2026-10-18 the highest evidence scores went to TripleDart, NoGood, WebFX / SEO.com, Go Fish Digital. A high score means more of what you need to judge them is public, not that they will perform better for you.
- Before you sign with anyone, run the 10-prompt baseline in section 5 yourself, so every proposal is compared against the same numbers.
Disclosure: MaxGrowth is the author of this page and is itself a GEO agency. We list ourselves in a separate row below for completeness, but we do not score ourselves and we do not place ourselves in the ranked table. Every other row uses only facts published by the agency itself, with a link so you can check. Spot an error? Email pocketaigc@gmail.com and we will correct it within 5 business days.
How we scored: 7 public criteria
We scored only facts an agency publishes about itself. One point each, maximum 7:
- Dedicated GEO/AEO service page (the agency sells this as a named service, not a blog post).
- Names four or more AI engines on that page (ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Claude, Copilot, Google AI Overviews / AI Mode). Engine coverage matters because answers differ by engine.
- Links a public AI-search case study with a stated outcome (citations, AI referrals, leads).
- Names how it measures AI visibility (its own tracker or a named third-party tool).
- Publishes pricing information (a range, a starting retainer, or a pricing FAQ).
- Includes Reddit / community sources in its stated approach. AI answers cite community discussion heavily, so a pure on-page approach leaves a gap.
- States an industry focus, so you can check fit before a call.
What we deliberately did not use: review-site star ratings (easy to solicit), client logos without a case study, “years in business”, team size, and our own opinion of the work. We did not contact or receive anything from any agency listed. The data was collected on 2026-10-18 and the page is re-checked quarterly; the update date is at the top.
Limits: a score of 2 can be a strong agency that simply publishes little. Use the score to decide what to ask on the first call, not to skip the call.

Source: each agency's own GEO/AEO service page and linked case study, checked 2026-10-18. “Not stated” means we did not find it on that page; it may exist elsewhere on their site. We record whether pricing is published, never the numbers.
How to read the table: the score counts transparency, not quality. An agency that publishes a case study with a named client and a measurable AI-search result has given you something to verify; one that names only “LLMs” has not. Ask every agency, in writing, which engines and which prompts they will report on, and how they will show the baseline.

Run a 10-prompt baseline before you talk to agencies
Agencies report different metrics, so proposals are hard to compare. Fix the yardstick before the first call:
- Write 10 buyer prompts the way a customer asks them, e.g. “best [category] for [use case]”, “[your brand] vs [competitor]”, “is [your brand] legit”.
- Run each prompt in ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google (AI Overviews / AI Mode), logged out or in a clean profile, and save screenshots with the date.
- Record three things per answer: are you mentioned, how are you described, and which URLs are cited.
- List the cited domains. If Reddit threads, review sites or competitors’ comparison pages dominate, an agency that only edits your website will not move those answers.
- Send the same sheet to every agency and ask which rows they expect to change, in what time window, and how they will prove it.
Doing this by hand takes about two hours. If you would rather not, our free GeoTrack diagnosis runs the same baseline across engines and sends you the raw answers and sources.
Questions to ask every GEO agency
| Question to ask | Good answer | Red flag |
|---|---|---|
| Which engines and prompts will you report on? | A written prompt list per engine, agreed before work starts | “We track AI visibility” with no prompt list |
| How do you prove change? | Before/after screenshots of the same prompts, with dates and cited URLs | A single blended “AI score” you cannot reproduce |
| What do you do off-site? | Named source types: Reddit threads, review sites, comparison pages, Wikipedia/Wikidata, press | Only schema, llms.txt and blog posts |
| How do you handle Reddit? | Disclosed participation, follows each subreddit’s rules, works with moderators | Anything that breaks Reddit’s rules on vote manipulation or undisclosed brand accounts |
| What is guaranteed? | Process and deliverables; any outcome target written into the contract with a defined measurement | “Guaranteed #1 in ChatGPT” |
Engines change how they choose sources often. An agency that promises a fixed position is promising something no one controls.
Agency or AI visibility tool?
Many teams do not need an agency yet. A tool tells you what AI says; an agency changes the sources it reads. Engines listed are as stated on each tool’s own site on 2026-10-18.
| Option | What it is | Engines it lists | When it is enough |
|---|---|---|---|
| Profound | AI visibility platform | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, Gemini, Copilot, DeepSeek, AI Overviews | You have an in-house SEO/content team that can act on the data |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | Brand monitoring in AI answers, YouTube and Reddit | AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, Claude | You already use Ahrefs and want mentions next to backlink data |
| OtterlyAI | AI search monitoring | ChatGPT, AI Overviews, AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity, Copilot, Claude | You want low-cost tracking of a fixed prompt list |
| Peec AI | Visibility and sentiment analytics vs competitors | ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Mode | You need competitor share-of-voice reporting |
| An agency | People who change the sources AI cites: pages, comparisons, community, press | Depends on the agency (see table above) | You need the answers to change, not only to be measured |

FAQ
What does a generative engine optimization agency do?
A GEO agency works to get your brand mentioned and cited accurately in AI answers from ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews. In practice that means testing buyer prompts, finding which sources the engines cite, improving your own pages so they are easy to quote, and earning mentions on the third-party sources AI relies on, such as review sites, comparison articles and Reddit discussions.
How is this ranking different from other best GEO agency lists?
The lists that rank highest on Google for this query are published by agencies that rank themselves first. This page scores agencies only on seven facts each agency publishes about itself, links every fact to its source, and excludes MaxGrowth, the author, from scoring.
Does a higher evidence score mean a better agency?
No. The score measures how much an agency makes public, such as engines covered, case studies and pricing. It helps you prepare questions. Judge performance by asking each agency to commit to changes against the same baseline prompts.
Is GEO different from SEO?
They overlap. Google AI Overviews and AI Mode draw on pages that are indexed and eligible to appear in Google Search, so SEO basics still apply. GEO adds per-engine prompt testing, citation-source analysis and off-site work on the sources AI answers quote, including community discussions.
Should I hire a GEO agency or buy an AI visibility tool?
Buy a tool if you have an in-house team that can act on the data. Hire an agency if you need someone to change the pages, comparisons and community discussions that AI engines cite. Many teams start with a tool and add an agency once they see which sources they are missing from.
Can any GEO agency guarantee a ranking in ChatGPT?
No. AI engines decide which sources to cite and change that behaviour often. A credible agency commits to deliverables and a measurable target defined in the contract, measured against a baseline you can reproduce, not to a fixed position.
